# The Quiet Weight of a Name

## A Single Dot

My site is called peter.md because I wanted something small and honest. The .md stands for Markdown, the plain way we write on the internet. No decorations, no noise. Just words and a few simple marks.

When I type in this little window, the name reminds me that I am only one person. Peter. One set of hands on a keyboard. One mind trying to say what feels true. The dot between us is not a barrier. It is a pause, the same pause we take before speaking carefully to someone we respect.

## What Lasts

Over time I have noticed that the best things in life arrive in plain text. A short note from a friend. A recipe written on the back of an envelope. The few sentences my father left in a birthday card years ago. They were never fancy, yet I still carry them.

Markdown teaches the same lesson. Bold and italics are possible, but they are used sparingly. The power lives in the words themselves. A name like peter.md quietly suggests that clarity matters more than cleverness. That being understood is better than being impressive.

- One honest sentence
- One careful edit
- One reader who feels less alone

These are enough.

## Carrying the Name

I write here on ordinary days, the ones that will never make the news. September 2, 2026 feels like any other late-summer morning, yet it is the only morning we have right now. So I open the file, type my name at the top, and begin again.

The domain is a small promise I made to myself: keep it simple, keep it yours, keep it kind.

*Some names are maps. This one tells me to speak plainly and rest between the dots.*
